General Counselling

General counselling offers a supportive, non-judgmental space to talk about what is happening in your life and work through challenges in a way that feels collaborative and grounded. My approach is solution-focused and person-centered, with the understanding that you are the expert in your own life.

Person-centered approach

Therapy is guided by your goals, values, and lived experience, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Solution-focused support

We work together to identify practical steps and meaningful changes that can improve your day-to-day life.

Non-judgmental and compassionate

A space where you can speak openly and honestly without fear of criticism or shame.

Flexible and collaborative

Sessions are tailored to what feels most helpful for you in the moment and over time.

In-person or virtual

Available from the downtown Edmonton office or through secure online sessions.

How It Works

A supportive process that moves at your pace

General counselling sessions are 50 minutes and are designed to provide a safe, supportive environment where you can explore what is happening in your life. Together, we identify your goals, understand the patterns contributing to your distress, and develop practical strategies that support lasting change.

About Joanne

Joanne Lagasse is a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW), with Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary, a BSW from Dalhousie University, and a BA from the University of Alberta.

She works with health-care professionals, military members and veterans, neurodivergent adults, and people navigating difficult or demanding periods in their lives.

Her approach is informed by Deep Brain Reorienting, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, and narrative approaches, allowing therapy to be adapted to the individual rather than relying on one method.

Joanne brings a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental approach to counselling, with respect for each person’s experience, goals, and pace.
